Jameel Motors has signed a deal to distribute Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) vehicles in the UK, marking GAC as the fourth Chinese automaker to enter Britain’s market this month.
Sales will begin in early 2026 with two Aion brand electric models: the Aion V SUV and Aion UT hatchback.
GAC is focusing on the Aion brand for now, despite also owning Trumpchi, Hycan, and Hyptec. The move is part of GAC’s broader global expansion, which includes recent launches in Portugal, Poland, and Brazil.
The UK, Europe’s second-largest EV market, has become a key target for Chinese brands, partly due to its lack of tariffs on Chinese-made EVs and a new £650 million subsidy program supporting affordable EVs.
Other recent Chinese entrants include BYD, Geely, Changan (Deepal), and Chery.
While GAC’s global sales dropped 20% in 2024 due to domestic joint venture declines, its international sales grew 67%, reaching 127,000 vehicles outside China.
