Defiant Tsunoda Vows To Bounce Back After Hungarian GP Setbacks

Yuki Tsunoda believes the performance gap between himself and Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen is continuing to shrink, despite a disappointing result at the Hungarian Grand Prix. After a Q1 exit and a pit lane start due to power unit changes, Tsunoda struggled to P17 following front wing damage that hampered pace and strategy options.

Tsunoda expressed frustration with recurring communication issues, pointing to back-to-back races—Hungary and Belgium—where missteps cost him potential points. Despite not scoring in the last seven Grands Prix, he remains optimistic, citing improved pace since receiving the RB21 floor upgrade.

“The gap with Max continues to close, it may not feel like we are getting there but on paper we are only one tenth off his pace. I’m not sure many other drivers could get as close to him.

“I am heading straight to the factory tomorrow to go into the [simulator]. We need to investigate where we went wrong and put in some hard work over the summer break so that we don’t start the next half of the season how we finished this one. It’s frustrating but we will stay positive and bounce back stronger.”

“Looking back on the season so far, I can feel pretty positive, we’ve made progress, especially since the new floor upgrades were brought to Spa,”

With 10 points this season and signs of progress in pace, Tsunoda is determined to regroup over the summer break, working in the simulator and at the factory to ensure a stronger second half of the year.
