Chinese-based YouTuber and car reviewer Telescope Guy—real name still unknown—was left speechless by the Xpeng P7, a jaw-dropping electric GT saloon. Think S-Class luxury at a price lower than a Tesla Model 3 Long Range. In China, anyway.

And he’s not wrong. The Xpeng P7 stands out. It’s futuristic, yes—but there’s a strangely familiar, almost retro vibe in its lines. Then it clicked: it looks like a stretched Datsun 240Z Coupé, reborn for the EV age.

Credit goes to Juanma Lopez, the design mind behind it. If his name rings a bell, it should—he’s shaped icons at Lamborghini, Audi, and Ferrari, where he had a hand in the LaFerrari, SF90 Stradale, and Monza SP.

Lopez also led exterior design at BYD and now runs the design department at Xpeng. The man knows what he’s doing.
