Yangwang, BYD’s high-end sub-brand, has set a new global EV top-speed record of 293 MPH with its U9 Track Edition at Germany’s ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg track on 8 August 2025, making it the world’s fastest electric vehicle.

Built on the e4 Platform and DiSus-X architecture, the U9 Track Edition features a 1200V ultra-high-voltage system, quad 555kW motors delivering over 3,000PS, and advanced torque-vectoring and suspension systems that ensure high-speed stability and precise handling.

Collaborative developments with Giti Tire produced track-focused semi-slick tyres to enhance grip and durability. Driven by professional racer Marc Basseng, who also set the 2024 EV speed record, the U9 Track Edition demonstrates Yangwang’s blend of extreme performance, advanced safety, and sustainable supercar innovation at the forefront of the global EV market.
