Xiaomi has officially launched its first electric vehicle (EV) research and development (R&D) and design centre outside China, located in Munich, Germany. The facility marks a major milestone in Xiaomi EV’s global expansion strategy and supports the company’s “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem vision.
Strategically positioned in one of Europe’s premier automotive hubs, the Munich centre will focus on performance vehicle projects, EV technology, design innovation, customer-centric solutions, and advanced research.
The facility aims to accelerate breakthroughs in intelligent driving, vehicle dynamics, and next-generation EV platforms while maintaining global standards of safety and quality.
The centre will bring together engineers, designers, and researchers to collaborate with Xiaomi EV’s global teams and foster partnerships with research institutions and industry stakeholders.
It will also emphasise talent development, autonomous driving, and ecosystem integration, including ethical AI and infrastructure considerations.
This expansion builds on Xiaomi EV’s successful launches of the SU7, SU7 Ultra, and YU7 in China and positions the company for its European market entry in 2027, reinforcing its ambition to become a global leader in smart mobility.
