Less Weight, Less Power, More Fun? The Bentley Continental Supersports GT Returns
Auto News

I remember the last time I drove the previous-generation Bentley Continental Supersports at a test event—I think it was about eight years ago. From a standstill, I floored the throttle. It wasn’t the speed that I remember most; it was the sensation of the ride height lifting by fractions of a millimetre as the tyres literally dug into the tarmac. The resulting kinetic energy momentarily expanded the P-Zero tyre walls, raising the ride height—not by much, but enough to notice. That’s how powerful the 700bhp, 1,017 Nm of torque Supersports felt at the time. The W12 was a beast of an engine.

It’s 2025 now, and the latest-generation Bentley Continental Supersports has arrived. It’s never looked better—like a finely tailored mafia don who sends his son to the best private school in the hope of steering him toward a respectable career path, only for him to end up working in the family business, shall we say.

The new Continental Supersports is less powerful than before: 656 bhp and 800 Nm come from a non-hybrid twin-turbo V8 engine. Power is delivered through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox to the rear wheels only.

The sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) is dispatched in 3.7 seconds, and top speed is projected to be around 192 mph (310 km/h)—with official verified figures to follow in due course. It’s rear-wheel drive only, and it weighs 500 kg less than a standard Continental GT. That’s asset stripping we can absolutely live with.
