Bentley Waves Goodbye To The Past, Says Hello To T’ Future
Auto News

And so it ends, the Bentley Mulsanne brand as we know it and therefore the might of its V8, twin-turbo hellraiser has succumbed to the dark forces of plug-in hybrid technology, preferring European, ecological appeasement perhaps forged upon it by decision makers in a land far away in the distant horizon. And we’re not talking about Scotland.

The beacon that once shone on Bentley has been replaced, to a certain extent, by LED day running lights, we could cope with that encroachment of modernity but we can not bear to see what the future holds …because we are already there.

Bentley’s heritage has been forsaken, its W12’s and now V8’s washed in complex EU regulations and its very soul tumble dried on a low heat cycle. A LOW HEAT CYCLE!

Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, says

“There is no doubt that plug-in hybrid technology is true to Bentley’s values of outstanding luxury and effortless performance’.

Dr Wolfy would say that, but he is defending the indefensible, an over-confidence that hides the erosion of all Bentley’s history, a history founded upon high fuel consumption, extrovert, powerful engines and unfathomable luxury with a price tag always out of reach to only but the few.

This Mulsanne plug-in hybrid is merely a concept say Bentley, we say wave good bye to the past, dampen your tears and flood away everything you knew because nothing lasts forever. The Bentley we once knew and loved has disappeared forever.
