Land Rover has effectively spied on itself with the release of the hotly anticipated (and under camouflage fatigues) Land Rover Discovery Sport, which is intended to be the son of Land Rover Discovery senior. The latest detail Land Rover would like you to know is that Discovery Jr will feature a 5+2, seven seat configuration just like Discovery Snr.
Discovery Jr will officially launch at this years Paris motorshow and is set to go on sale in 2015, it will closely resemble the Discovery Vision Concept pictured below. Discovery Jr is initially expected to use the 2.2 litre, four cylinder engine from the Freelander with an all new 2.0 litre diesel ready for a late 2015 replacement.
Discovery Jr is earmarked to oust the Freelander, entry level models are anticipated to cost around £28k-£30k and the competition is expected to be fierce with the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLA and Porsche Macan all vying for a slice of the premium compact SUV market.
