The updated Audi A6 hits the UK market with a raft of updates pertained to styling and engineering tweaks. To sooth Audi’s ego we’ll say all new.
Styling revisions include standard xenon headlights for SE versions and LED headlights for S Line range. If you want the fancy Matrix LED headlights its an option list only but standard on the RS 6 Avant.
On the inside nothing much has changed except for an upgraded 8-inch, retractable touchscreen infotainment system. That’s a damn nice interior isn’t it.
With the exception of the V8 powered, cylinder on demand for the RS 6 Avant, S6 and S6 Avant the bog standard engine line up consists of diesel only units ranging from the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel up to a 3.0-litre V6 turbo and bi-turbo diesel spin off. The lineup includes the 2.0-litre TDi Ultra which Audi claims offers up to 67mpg and coughs out as little as 109g/km.
As with all updates the engines have been tweaked to produce slightly more power and efficiency than before and a new S tronic twin clutch gearbox supersedes the old CVT gear box in front wheel drive models.
The new A6 is available to order now with first deliveries scheduled for December, if you want a new S6 or RS 6 Avant then you will have to wait until November, when the order books are opened and don’t expect your shiny new toy until at least March 2015.
See the price list for the new A6 range. Hold on how did the A6 get so expensive for an entry level model? The good times have surely gone.
