You may notice we like Ferrari here on DCB, we can’t help it we always have and always will, we are unreservedly biased, because as Luca Di Montezemolo says “Ferrari doesn’t build cars, it build’s dreams”.
Ferrari launched the F60 America, on this day, to celebrate 60 years of Ferrari in North America, it’s a limited edition, built to order supercar and Ferrari will be releasing more of these special edition one off’s continuing a trend that started in the 1950’s and into the 1960’s and has now been resurrected by Luca Di Montezemolo.
Di Montezemolo, the now former Ferrari President and CEO, recently left the company after 25 years at the top and ushered in new era that has seen the company’s stock and exclusivity rise to new levels.
The Ferrari F60 America is the last car to be overseen by Di Montezemolo, backroom dealing’s caused his unexpected exit. We reckon the F60 America should be renamed the Ferrari Di Montezemolo, who knows, that might be one for the future.
When Ferrari do exclusivity, they really do mean exclusive, only 10 F60 America’s will be built, its based on the F12 Berlinetta however the body work has been vigorously reworked.
The removal of the roof creates a Targa like bodystyle, lurking underneath the engine bay is a gloriously dirty big, naturally aspirated, front mid-engine 6.3 -litreV12 engine which sends 730bhp and 690Nm of torque to the rear wheels. This allows the F60 America to reach 0-62mph in just 3.1 seconds, top speed should be an easy 200mph.
The F60 America does come with a removable fabric roof but its designed to provide isolation from the elements at speed’s of up to 80mph, beyond that speed its open top driving only, and who wouldn’t want to in this beast. Eddie Jordan or William Shatner are two possible candidates.
So how much will this special, very special edition Ferrari cost? Have you got spare change for a reputed £325,000 GBP? There are 10 people in this world of billions who already have answered that question.
