Skoda Fabia R5 Rally Car Concept Breaks Cover
Auto News
Skoda are heading to the German auto tuning show, Essen Motor Show, this Saturday with their Fabia R5 rally car concept. The Fabia R5 is very obviously based on the new generation Fabia, but its been given the typical rally car makeover. Wider, flared wheel arches, roof scoop, rear wing, rally honed suspension and face slapping brakes. Suddenly this so called concept is starting to become very real, very quickly. Skoda’s motorsport division has ensured the R5 is FIA compliant, its powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol (gasoline) engine and is mated to a five-speed sequential gearbox. A very important Skoda man, Dr. Frank Welsch, said racing teams have already shown interest. “…the ŠKODA Fabia R 5 Concept Car, gives a first insight into our new rally car. The concept is based on the new ŠKODA Fabia. The world premiere of the Fabia R 5 Concept Car gives an insight into the future of rallying at ŠKODA,” Skoda Motorsport Director Michal Hrabánek confirmed “The Fabia R 5 is scheduled to be homologated by mid-2015.”  Skoda-Fabia-R5-Front
