With Ferrari revealing the all new FXX we have decided to lead with a car that everyone can afford, the Honda Civic Type R which launches in 2015. But it seems the Civic Type R will be in just as big demand as the £1m Ferrari FXX, Honda’s OEM modified speed demon is going to set you back a £3k deposit before you even spec the thing. Honda are promising the Type R will be the most extreme performance car in the sub-brands history and will coincide with the company’s return to Formula One as engine supplier to McLaren F1. The New Type R will be built and engineered in the UK for European drivers and will debut what Honda refer to as the new +R mode which alters the engine and steering map to offer up that extreme Type R performance Honda are promising. The +R mode will also stiffen up the new four point Adaptive Damper System for increased handling dynamics, according to reports Honda are currently undertaking extensive development testing with the goal to make the fastest front-wheel-drive car in its class. The Civic Type R is expected to debut a new generation 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, details are few and far between other than Honda confirming it will be more than 276bhp.
