The Volkswagen Polo supermini turns on the super frugal charm with the addition of “Bluemotion” which features a revised engine map, low-rolling resistant tyres and longer gear ratios.
So here it is the VW Polo Bluemotion which has finally been given a consumer friendly price for UK buyers. The new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol joins the 1.4-litre, 3-cylinder TDi engine which replaces the 1.2-litre TDi.
If you think a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine is not powerful enough then perhaps a peppy 94bhp and 118Nm of torque might dissuade you from thinking otherwise.
Straightline performance is merry to miserable but at least you get a tax busting 94g/km and a claimed 62mpg.
You may wish to stick with the petrol version, the 1.4 diesel has 74bhp but returns a healthy and claimed figure of 91mpg while emitting only 82g/km.
Standard equipment for the Polo range includes DAB radio, USB and AUX-in connections, colour touchscreen and an SD card reader.
Bluemotion Polos include an alarm with remote central locking, air conditioning, upgraded infotainment and front fog lamps with cornering function, multifunction leather steering wheel and a front centre armrest wheel,
Prices start from £14k for the petrol version and £15k for the diesel version, the Polo Bluemotion will go on sale in the UK from March 2015.
