Auto News
We like any excuse to party and the automotive industry likes any excuse to release special edition models lick of paint, contrast stitching and monogrammed plaque on the aluminum door sill with ambient lighting. That sort of thing. The McLaren 650s Le Mans is a limited edition model launched to celebrate the 20th anniversary of McLaren’s F1 GTR victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They do have a long memory at McLaren. In good old special edition tradition only 50 examples of the coupe will be made available globally and the original exterior designer behind the 1992 McLaren F1, Peter Stevens, was invited to collaborate on the process. The 650s Le Mans features a series of subtle styling enhancements notably the roof-mounted ‘snorkel’ air intake which channels airflow to engine. McLaren-650S-Lemans-Rear The 3.8-litre, 641bhp and 672Nm twin turbo V8 engine remains unchanged as does the 3 second 0-62mph time and 207mph top speed. The front wings feature subtle louvres to reduce pressure over the front wheels, increasing downforce.  The unique ‘Le Mans Edition’ lightweight wheels – 19-inch at the front, 20-inch at the rear – pay homage to the motorsport rims fitted to the 1995 racers. Carbon ceramic brakes are standard, with McLaren Orange callipers breaking the silence of the dark bodywork which is painted in a metallic Sarthe Grey exterior paint colour. Special edition paint of course. Carbon fiber also features throughout including the front splitter and rear bumper. side blades and the rear diffuser. No special edition is complete without the obligatory logo embossed on the headrest of each seat, and on the unique floor mats so you can rest your special edition feet with comfort. Touche McLaren. Cost? £244k GBP, first deliveries will begin sometime in mid-March.  McLaren-650S-Lemans-Profile
