Vauxhall hopes to give the Fiat Arbarth a good slap across its bumper with the performance version of the Adam. Except calling it Grand Slam reminds one of strawberries and cream and the Wimbledon finals.
Vauxhall have already confirmed no VXR performance variant of the Adam will be offered to UK punters. What ever they call this top of the range Adam it certainly isn’t short of hot hatch performance.
The Adam Grand Slam is powered by the company’s 1.4-litre turbocharged 150PS (220Nm of torque) petrol/gasoline engine, the chassis has been specially-tuned and the VXR braking system has been fitted as standard. Performance figures read 124mph and 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds.
The Adam Grand Slam gets unique “Red ‘n’ Roll” design cues and a beefier looking body kit and there is a total of ten exterior colours to choose from.
The Grand Slam sits on exclusive, new 18-inch wheels. The distinctive rear spoiler above the rear window and LED daytime running and rear tail lights complete the look.
Top of the range models are always well specced and the Adam Grand Slam is no exception to the rule. Prices start from £16k on-the-road, sales begin from March of this year. That’s 2015 if you are reading this in the 22nd Century.
