Audi’s second generation Q7 ‘soft-roader’ is finally here, well at least for UK punters. Prices will start from a mahoosive £50k for entry level SE models.

We are led to believe the new Q7 will be 325kg lighter therefore more efficient and much more technologically advanced. In the normal world its called progress.

The exterior design is now much sharper all round which is characterized by the hexagonal 3D hexagonal singleframe grille dominating the front of the car. It is flanked by double-arrow design Xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights in SE models or all-weather LED units in the S line.

The Q7 will feature a third row of seats, though we argue does anyone else but the dog uses these seats? not even kids get a look in. However 19 inch wheels come as standard on the SE spec models.

The S line versions, which will cost around £53k, are fitted with all-weather LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, four-zone climate control and S line styling enhancements

In the UK market customers prefer diesel engines for large SUV’s because of the high cost of unleaded fuel. As such the Q7 will be available at launch with a 272 PS V6 TDI engine, a 218 PS 3.0 TDI quattro is expected to arrive by late summer 2015.

Ordering for the all new Q7 starts next month in April, we just hope its not on the 1st, otherwise we will pity the fools who would dare order a Q7 on such an inauspicious day.
