Kahn Design Reveal 6 Wheeled Huntsman
Auto News

If you didn’t know already the Land Rover Defender will cease production in the UK before the year is out, naturally the folks over at Land Rover want to extract as much teary eyed nostalgia as they can.

There are a number of theories why, to drum up business (more sales) and create a drum roll for the next generation Defender (more sales).

But our friends over at bespoke specialists Kahn Design can’t be easily taken in by all that mock nostalgia. We really liked the Defender based Huntsman its probably the definitive looking Defender of them all and now they have revealed the 6 wheeled version.

And we must admit to rather liking it even though the bill for a set of tyres is going to cost a bob or two.

The coach built Huntsman has been lengthened with a 400mm extension to the bonnet, and 1000mm extension to the rear cabin, as well as being widened by 150mm.

The windscreen rake has been increased, and the exterior is augmented with a square sectioned wide arch body kit manufactured from hammer formed aluminium panels, as well as a redesigned X-Lander front grille and front bumper.

A 6.2-litre GM LS3 V8 430bhp engine drives a six-speed automatic gearbox operated by push-button controls.

Upgraded braking and suspension, and a quad crosshair exhaust system complete the engineering overhaul.

“The Defender is probably the most iconic and well-loved British vehicle in existence – I believe even more so than the Mini” commented Afzal Kahn, CEO and creative director of the Kahn Group.

“The fact that Land Rover are retiring it is an absolute tragedy – it’s one of my top three all time favourite vehicles.” added Kahn who unveiled the vehicle at the Geneva Motorshow.

No word on pricing or availability… because its a concept. Kahn Design may make a couple of versions should there be any residual interest as a result of exhibiting at Geneva.
