We refused to play ball with McLaren’s teaser photo campaign look at me publicity stunt (we had a bad week) but now we can finally see the new McLaren 570s vis-a-vie Sports Series. This is how McLaren do their entry level models in what is a direct competitor for the Porsche 911 Turbo. And surprisingly the 570S keeps what is a de-tuned version of the V8 Twin Turbo used in the 650S. Its clear to see the 570S also keeps to the current McLaren design language.   Interestingly McLaren say the 570S offers more usable space than any other McLaren thus far, 150 litres… we reckon its a dull stat and most owners will be more interested in the kerb appeal and performance. That performance consists of the now familiar and shall we say homegrown 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 mated to a seven speed twin clutch gearbox, it churns out 562 bhp, 600 Nm of torque and 0-62mph takes 3.2 seconds, the top speed is a reputed 204 mph. McLaren have utilised the same production techniques forged on previous McLaren’s, the 570S is based on an new carbon fiber monocell, aluminium body panels keep the overall weight down to 1,313kg. McLaren will officially unveil the 570S at the New York Auto Show later on this week.
