You’ll have to look very closely at the fresh styling changes Peugeot have given their 208 supermini for 2015 but rest assured they have, its a case of blink and miss it. The changes are minimal, a new front bumper design that incorporates a wider grille with a deeper chrome surround.
The headlights also get a new two-tone design which features black and chrome masks and are fitted as standard from Active trim levels.
The rear light clusters get a design makeover and now incorporate Peugeot’s signature 3D claws motif. LED daytime running lights with cornering assist fog lights are standard from the Allure model on.
Peugeot also offers the 208 with Personalisation packs two for the interior and two for the exterior and these are available in Menthol white and Lime Yellow. The exterior packs include a new 3D effect grille with a glossy black finish and laser engraved Peugeot typeface.
The interior packs will feature sports seats with contrast stitching, colored door handles, grained dashboard molding and satin chrome air vent finishers.
The 208 is available in 13 colurs which includes ‘textured paint’ a world’s first say Peugeot for a volume car maker. Its a matt finish and requires no extra care or maintenance. But it will cost you an extra £645.
Park Assist and a reversing camera are available as a combined option from Allure level. Active City Brake, which automatically brakes at speeds of 20mph if there is a danger of hitting a pedestrian, is free on Active and Allure models, a saving of £900.
The 208 also gets more compliant Euro 6 engines which means emissions have been reduced, the 1.6-litre BlueHDi 75 & 100 now cough out just 74g/km. The 3-cylinder petrol 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre turbocharged engine have emissions as low as 103g/km and 104g/km respectively.
The petrol engines are mated to a five speed manual or automtic gearbox while the diesels are available with 5 or 6-speed manuals, the most potent diesel variant comes with a 6-speed automatic.
The 208 is available in three or five door body styles whereas the GTi models are 3 doors only and feature a lowered ride height, wider tracks and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The slightly updated 208 is on sale now and is available in seven trim levels with prices starting from £11k for UK punters.
