Mercedes Could Develop C CLass ‘Allroad’ Rival
Auto News
The folks over at Topspeed.com reckon Mercedes need a like for like rival to match the Audi A4 Allroad and what better than to base that rival upon the all new C Class estate. Mercedes is already selling SUV’s and crossovers, think GLA and the upcoming GLC Coupe. There is even a Maybach GLS in the works. Mercedes is openly looking at off-road / 4WD versions of its current saloon car offerings such as the C and the next generation E Class and this has prompted our friends over at Topspeed to beg the question, so what will a C Class ‘Allroad’ inspired go anywhere estate look like. The above rendering answers the previous question. As with the Audi A4 Allroad, the Mercedes C Class, if it goes ahead and this is purely speculative, will get an increased ride-height, wider wheel arches and 4Matic all-wheel-drive, that sort of thing. Power will most likely be provided by a new generation 2.0-litre diesel engine that is set to replace the venerable 2.1-litre family of engines, expect the latter to happen when the new generation E Class launches in 2017. Personally we here at DCB Towers don’t believe Mercedes will make a C Class ‘Allroad’ rival because they already have that awful looking GLC which is based on the C Class anyway. And besides who would want to buy the GLC its a miserable looking, developed by focus groups, hamfisted, badge-engineered nothingness of a vehicle. We say if you want a big off-roader go buy yourself a Range Rover, Evoque whats wrong with that? Used or new.  Mercedes-C-Class-Allroad
