Porsche Reveal Track Focused Cayman GT4 Clubsport
Auto News
This is the new Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport and Porsche say its aimed at people who want to use it for both recreational and club racing, or either one its totally up to the individual concerned. Porsche has a particular target market for the GT4 Clubsport and that’s why they decided to launch it at the Los Angeles Motorshow. The Cayman GT4 Clubsport is powered by the same 3.8-litre flat-six engine, 380-bhp unit found in the GT4 road going version. Not found in the road going version is the modified six-speed, paddle shift operated, double clutch transmission which is shoe-horned into the Clubsport GT4. Most of the underlying mechanicals are fairly similar to the GT4 road car such as a mechanical rear-axle locking differential. The lightweight strut front axle isactually  borrowed from the 911 GT3 Cup and the rear features an enhanced lightweight strut suspension with transverse arms, also from the 911 GT3 Cup. Porsche-GT4-Clubsport-Rear-Spoiler Being a race bred car the Clubsport GT4 features an integrated Roll-Cage and a bucket seat with six-point harness. The 90-litre fuel tank is fitted as standard although Porsche do offer a 70-litre and 100-litre option. The brake system features 380-millimetre steel brake discs all round with the front housing a one-piece, six-piston aluminium fixed callipers, with a four-piston equivalent at the rear. The anti-lock brake system can be adjusted in twelve stages. The Electronic Stability Programme has been expanded for slicks while the power steering is operated electro-mechanically. Mounted at the front axle are 18-inch five-bolt forged rims with Michelin tyres with 18-inch five-bolt forged rims at the rear. Porsche-GT4-Clubsport-Alloy-Wheels Porsche consider the Clubsport GT4 to be lightweight, we reckon 1,300kg is still pretty lardy for a so called track-focused sports car. Prospective owners will require focus if they are willing to buy a Cayman GT4 Clubsport and being more track-focused it’s expected to cost potential new owners around £93k GBP all in.  Porsche-GT4-Clubsport-Front
