Hennessey Considering 1000bhp All-Electric Hellfire Supercar
Auto News

Hennessey may be a consistently difficult word to spell correctly but it seems the company has little difficulty in making outrageously powerful supercars. Take the Hennessey Venom GT which generates 1,451bhp and 240mph from its highly modified 7-litre, Twin-Turbo V8.

So why not take a step back, say 451bhp less power. At the SEMA show the founder of the company which bears his name, John Hennessey, confirmed he is considering building an 1,000bhp all electric supercar.

However, Hennessey believes battery technology is still the limiting factor and is waiting for a revolution to happen in the current battery technology stalemate.

Hennessey said: “’m just waiting for the batteries to become lighter and have more capacity. But I don’t think that’s far away.”

Hennessey isn’t interested in building a hybrid supercar offered by the likes of Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren though admires the technology.

Hennessey is only interested in either an all-electric powered supercar or sticking to the conventional tried and trusted method of creating a combustion-engine missile.

Presumably developing hybrid technology would be too expensive for a company that specializes in modifying cars and its highly unlikely such technology will come cheap if Hennessey were to ask for a customer supply deal.
