Next Generation Porsche 911 Test Mule Spotted
Auto News
The Porsche 911 is the grandpa of modern sports cars, over the years its been stretched, pulled resuscitated, and given more facelifts than a fading Hollywood superstar. The Porsche 911 is automotive evolution before our very eyes and 52 years after it was first released its currently never looked better. So the 991 is the current generation 911, its a little bit confusing we know. The 991 is perhaps the most balanced revision to the exterior design making it the most handsome 911 to date. Released in 2011 Porsche gave it the scheduled facelift a few months ago. The photos show what looks to be the current 911 being used as a test mule. Many have speculated this is a taste of what the 2018 model will look like. However we reckon the flared wheel arches indicate a final high performance edition road going version is in the making. The exposed fuel cap is unusual, speculation has been rife that this is an indication that the next generation 911 will have a hybrid derivative added to the model lineup. In the automotive industry product cycles typically last for around 8 years. Porsche already offers hybrids powertrains with the Panamera and Cayenne SUV but do not offer a fully electric Tesla rival. So the real question is will the next generation 911 offer a full-electric drivetrain. We can speculate all day long but it seems the analogue age of the internal combustion engine is slowly approaching the horizon but the sun hasn’t set just yet.  Porsche-911-2018-SpyShots-Rear
