McLaren Reveal The World’s First Hatchback Supercar, The 570GT
Auto News
McLaren have added another member of the family to it’s Sport Series range of supercars in the form of the brand new 570GT. The 570GT will sit above the entry level 540C and below the 570S. Think of it as a mid-range McLaren supercar. The 570GT completes the so called family look, its more luxuriously trimmed throughout and offers comfort over pure handling dynamics. Essentially based on the 570S McLaren engineers have re-worked the the front and rear anti-roll bars and reduced the spring rates to offer a softer ride quality. McLaren-570GT-Interior The steering ratio setup has also been ever so slightly reduced by 2 percent meaning the 570GT will be more cruiser than A-road muscle bound bruiser. The 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo from the 570S is unchanged, that means you get 562bhp and 443lb ft of torque (600nm). Because the 570GT carries more luxuries like heated seats, cruise control and so on, that extra weight impacts on performance. But not as much a you would think. McLaren-570GT-Hatch   The 570GT weighs 37kg more than the 570S but at 1350kg the 570GT still cuts a lean figure for a supercar. Performance figures have been rated at a 214mph for the top speed. The seven speed auto will get too 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds. The straightline performance differences with the 570S are no more than two tenths of a second. Or if you are reading this in London then that means covering the distance between your Mayfair penthouse flat to Tesco Express. But seriously the 570GT has two boots, one at the front and one at the rear giving a total boot space of 220-litres. Enough for a brand new pair of Louboutins. Despite sitting below the 570S the 570GT is actually £10k more expensive at £154,000. So that begs the question, why didn’t McLaren just make a 570S GT? The 570GT will go into production in Q3 2016.  McLaren-570GT-Front
