Smoking Hot Porsche 930 Will Never Be Bettered
Video

This is a story of one man’s 28 year journey to own a Porsche 930. Jim Goodlett’s 1984 grey market 930 Turbo is a beautiful example of a classic Porsche 911, but it also represents the accomplishment of a goal he set for himself as a young man who could only dream of one day owning this supercar.

The Porsche 930 was a sports car built by Porsche between 1975 and 1989, known to the public as the 911 Turbo.

It was the maker’s top-of-the-range 911 model for its entire production duration and at the time of its introduction the fastest production car available in Germany.

The 2+2, rear engine, RWD Coupe was also available in Targa and Cabriolet bodystyles. The 3.0 litre flat-six from the Carrera RS 3.0 generated 260 PS (191 kW; 256 hp).

Porsche revised the suspension, added larger brakes and a stronger gearbox to cope with the power, which at that time was extremly powerful.

The “whale tail” rear spoiler was installed to help vent more air to the engine and help create more downforce at the rear of the vehicle.

Wider rear wheels with upgraded tires combined with flared wheelarches were added to increase the 911’s width and grip, making it more stable.

While a modern 21st century Porsche 911 is technically superior and far more advanced in every way, the combined look of the 930 has probably never been bettered. But that’s our opinion.

It’s fair to say that this example is smoking hot.
