The bog standard M3, if you want to call it that, costs £56k for interested UK punters. The M3 is the super saloon that can get to near supercar levels of performance.The current BMW M3 features a 431bhp, Twin-Turbo, straight-six engine. That’s more power than the typical M3 buyer would ever need… Or is it. BMW have just released what could be called a tweaked and OME pimped-up version of the M3 in the form of the Jahre Edition. The M3 30 Jahre Edition has 19bhp more over the standard M3. The M3 30 Jahre Edition marks the 30th anniversary of the first ever M3 launched way back in 1986. Throw in the Competition Package, Adaptive M Suspension and you have a sales and marketing dream. Yes the typical M3 owner is gulible. Optimised features also include new springs, dampers and stabilisers, modified driving modes COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+. These ‘gulibles’ also get a modified version of the standard Active M differential on the rear axle and Dynamic Stability Control feature (DSC).   The latter means a technician with a laptop has re-engineered, nay, re-programmed a bunch of diff setting with a brand new set of algorithms. But you do get other features such as the forged 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with 666 M star spoke design and mixed tyres (front: 265/30 R20, rear: 285/30 R20). In addition you get the the 7-speed M DCT gearbox sprints from 0 to 62mph in just 4 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the series production model. The interior also gets a bit of a re-trim and features exclusive full leather Merino trim in bicolour Black/Fjord Blue with colour-matching contrast seams. A high standard specification includes a harman/kardon surround-sound system with a total of 16 speakers. Standard equipment includes Adaptive LED Headlights, BMW M Carbon Ceramic braking system, BMW M Head-up display,Comfort Access, Surround View, Comfort Access, Advanced Parking Pack, Extended Storage and a Speed Limit Display. So what the M3  30 Jahre Edition is, is a re-tuned M3 with as much optional extras you can already get for the M3 anyway. Only 30 M3 Jahre Edition cars will be sold when it goes on sale in the UK in Summer but at least you do get special edition Jahre decals. It’s worth it for that alone.
