Volkswagen Unleashes Outrageous Golf Touring Car Concept
Auto News
You won’t be able to buy this insane looking VW Golf but at least you will be able to gawp at it. Its the latest creation from VW Motorsport and its kind of like a development project, a viability study into a customer racing programme for the 2016 Touringcar Racer International Series. VW’s monster racer rides on 18-inch racing rims, the chassis is roughly 40 centimetres wider than that of the production Golf. An aerodynamically designed front splitter and carbon rear wing are also among the modifications for the racetrack. VW-Golf-TCR-Concept-Front Among the components designed to protect the driver are a racing seat with head protectors, a racing safety cell, and a safety tank in accordance with FIA regulations. Underneath that ridiculously outrageous body work is a 2.0-litre turbo engine which comes from the Golf R. This churns out 328bhp and 410Nm of torque. Naturally 0-62mph times will be quicker than a Donkey on Methamphetamine. VW-Golf-TCR-Concept VW Motorsport haven’t given this TCR racer a name just yet but we’re happy to call it the VW Methamphetamine TCR. VW plan to go testing at the remaining four weekends of the Touringcar Racer International Series in Austria, Singapore, Thailand and Macau the later of which is being held in early November. VW-Golf-TCR-Concept-Rear Championships like the TCR Series are existential marketing opportunities for car makers to sell their brands through the rose tinted spectacles of motor racing.  VW-Golf-TCR-Concept-Front-Side
