Carwow is a UK online buying platform for consumers interested in buying new cars from franchise dealers. Carwow cut’s out the middleman, by using what they call a “reverse market place model” . This enables new car buyers to get a bit a saving when it comes to signing across the dotted line.
Unlike this site Carwow has grown to become a prime focus for automotive companies to throw their full resources at.
However we do have a few issues with the business model Carwow uses. Although cutting out the middle man is a blessing, Carwow’s deals are still subject to manufacture approval.
The manufactures still control the prices, the finance and loans. So you the end consumer believe you are getting a good deal when in actual fact you are made to believe you are getting a good deal.
What Carwow does is speed up the buying process for the consumer and for this they get paid a small premium by the dealer per deal made.
Carwow has sold over 20,000 cars via its platform which has generated £550 million of revenue for the company’s Christmas party.
Carwow started off as a car reviews website before switching to a buying platform but it still reports about and reviews cars and in this case it got to review the Volvo S90 and V90. With an annoying presenter. Lucky them.
