Rolls Royce Reveals The Future With Vision Next 100 Concept
Auto News
Like a Shaman on an epic drug binge dancing around a log fire in the night, Rolls Royce has delivered it’s very own shimmering vision of the future in the form of the Vision Next 100. This unashamed concept is designed, say Rolls Royce, to deliver “an exquisite fusion of technology, design and hallmark Rolls-Royce craftsmanship.” The Vision Next 100 retains the Rolls Royce design language whether it will retain the big V12 powerplant is another matter. It may well be the case that in the next 100 years Rolls Royce could be fully electric. Rolls-Royce-Vision-Next-100-Rear It’s always difficult to foresee what will happen in 100 years time. Take a look at aviation at the beginning of the 20th Century. It began with rickety wooden bi-planes and accelerated to man walking on the moon some 69 years later. And who knows maybe the internal combustion engine and electric powered cars will have been superseded by an exotic new propulsion system or maybe a nuclear fusion powered car. No one can say for sure. Rolls-Royce-Vision-Next-100-Detail But the world in 100 years time will be different but by how much is difficult to predict. What we do know is that autonomous cars will emerge as the next money-spinning frontier for car makers. The technology is slowly already being deployed and right now you can get cars equipped with semi-autonomous driving tech. Rolls Royce is owned by BMW and is more or less made by BMW in Germany with the manufacturing base in the UK effectively assembling a German made car. Think of Rolls Royce as a more expensive and certainly more luxurious version of the 7 Series. The Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100, as presented in London on Thursday 16 June 2016, is but one example of a number of possible personal visions of a Rolls-Royce of the future. Rolls-Royce-Vision-Next-100-Profile Indeed, in an evolution of the Rolls-Royce Bespoke experience of today, through this concept the company hopes it’s customers’ will taste the future. Giles Taylor, Director of Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said at the London launch “With the Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100 we were mindful not to dwell on the past. We wanted to be as innovative as possible and at the same time transcend the design history of the marque.”  Rolls-Royce-Vision-Next-100-Front
