Honda have revealed the new look Civic Hatch and it’s undergone a considerable transformation……… Keeping opinions to one side for now the new Civic Hatch is first heading to the US of A where it will go on sale in September 2016.  Ironically the Japanese Honda Civic was actually designed and made in England and will go on sale in Blighty by the first quarter of 2017. Exact details and specifications are not yet known but expect a majority of trim levels and engines to be carried over from the current range. The US will get their hands on just one engine, a 180bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a choice of five trim levels, which will be given some kind of naming convention. European customers will get a choice of both petrol and diesel engines and maybe even a 1.0-litre turbocharged, 3-cylinder engine. The new look Honda will have to square off to some tough competition and such as the VW Golf, the Fjord Focus and Vauxhall Astra. But the biggest challenge faced by all of these hatches is the rise in demand for SUV’s, will there be enough room for the Civic hatch in 10 years time and that goes for all the other rivals too.
