The US will get their hands on just one engine, a 180bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a choice of five trim levels, which will be given some kind of naming convention.
European customers will get a choice of both petrol and diesel engines and maybe even a 1.0-litre turbocharged, 3-cylinder engine.
The new look Honda will have to square off to some tough competition and such as the VW Golf, the Fjord Focus and Vauxhall Astra.
But the biggest challenge faced by all of these hatches is the rise in demand for SUV’s, will there be enough room for the Civic hatch in 10 years time and that goes for all the other rivals too.
