We’re not sure quite what Subaru were thinking but someone in their European based marketing division had a brainwave, a lightbulb moment to drive a WRX STI down an Olympic Bobsled track in St Moritz, Switzerland. It’s probably faster to use a bobsled than a car and it’s probably cheaper to sponsor a proper Bobsled team.
Typically Subaru will hand out it’s European territory millions of pounds on which to spend on marketing, PR and events.
So logically speaking wrecking a WRX STI that costs around £40k won’t make too much of an impact into the budget.
Obviously Subaru wants to promote the WRX STI’s AWD capabilities and this is a head turning way in which to promote the Subaru brand on the whole.
So what message does this publicity stunt send about Subaru? they are a bunch of nutters who need locking up maybe?
