This is the most extreme Ferrari you will never be able to afford, let alone drive out on the public road for it is the Ferrari Enzo stripped bare and turned into the new FXX-K Evo, an upgrade package to already extreme FXX. The FXX-K Evo is not destined to be competition car either, it is a demonstration of Ferrari’s current superpower weaponry and the people armed with the access codes will be Ferrari’s most loyal customers. The knowledge gained from Ferrari’s Formula 1, GT3, GTE and Challenge race experience has been distilled into the FXX-K Evo and then amplified to another level. Ferrari calls it their closed wheel laboratory. The FXX-K Evo uses more carbon fiber and therefore sheds weight over the previous FXX-K in addition to a new aerodynamic package which sees an increase in downforce by up to 23%. Indeed most of the work on the FXX-K Evo has been focused on aero improvements. For example, attention was paid to the rear bumpers, a new modified design allows for the better management of the airflow wake which is channeled more efficiently. The ground effect was also boosted by 30% with the introduction of vortex generators on the undertray. On the mechanical side not much has changed, Ferrari have simply opted to tinker with the suspension for improved mechanical grip. The interior receives a new steering wheel design with F1 derived, integrated paddle shifts. The rear video camera screen is replaced by a larger 6.5″ screen with improved telemetry data graphics. But the underlying power remains the same, a naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V12 Hybrid KERS System that outputs a total system power of 1,050bhp and 900Nm of torque which allows for a 0-60mph time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 217mph. While the FXX-K Evo isn’t for sale to the general public it’s reputed to cost nearly £2.5m Brexit Pounds. Production will be limited to around 40 units.
