Car lovers have a very interesting relationship with motorbikes. On the one hand, we appreciate good pieces of auto genius. On the other hand, we get mightily annoyed by motorcyclists that act like they own the road. You’ll often pass a motorbike – or more likely they speed past you – and wonder; why would you ever ride one of those instead of driving a car?

Well, I tried to put myself in the shoes of a motorbike owner to figure out what convinces them that this auto machine is the best option. Here are some of the most common arguments I found for why motorbikes might be better than cars.

Much Better Acceleration

If you’ve ever been stuck at a set of traffic lights next to a motorbike, then you know they’re very quick off the mark. In fact, most sports bikes can go from 0-60 in comfortably less than three seconds. This is done while having considerably less horsepower than most cars. One of the fastest motorbikes on record is the Suzuki GSX-R1000. This did 0-60 in 2.35 seconds, with only 147 bhp. In comparison, the Bugatti Chiron does 0-60 in 2.3 seconds, but has 1,470 bhp! So, you don’t need to buy a massively expensive motorbike with thousands of horsepower if you want to go fast.

Great At Navigating Through Traffic

Any of you that have driven to work during rush hour will know it can take ages before you reach your destination in a car. You slowly move forward through the traffic, and it gets very frustrating. With a motorbike, you have a vastly more maneuverable machine. It can wind through gaps in traffic jams, making it to the front of the queue. In fact, because they’re so quick off the mark, motorbikes are meant to be at the front of traffic. Therefore, a bike is great if you need a convenient way of getting to work.

Cheaper To Run

Motorbikes tend to be more economical and cheaper to run – when compared to the average car. Put it this way, if you saw a car that could go 30 mpg, you’d be fairly impressed. However, in the motorbike world, this is fairly unimpressive. Some bikes offer way better mpg rates, meaning you get more value out of your petrol money. As such, if something goes wrong, it won’t cost an arm and a leg to repair.

Easier To Park

Parking a car can be tough when there aren’t many spaces available. But, parking a motorbike is easy because you don’t need a lot of space. It can fit in the tightest of corners, meaning you’ll always find somewhere to park.

When you look at this, there are some compelling arguments in favour of motorbikes over cars. Of course, they’re not for everyone, and a bike is much harder to control than a car.
