We have to agree with Doug De Muro, the  2020 Corvette C8 is the hottest car of the year. But not for the reasons Doug says so. The 8th generation Corvette C8 takes a new approach for an American sports car. The type of approach you expect to find in European sports cars. So, for example, the V8 engine moves from the front to mid-mounted. No manual, it dual-clutch auto transmission only. All very, un-American.

The Corvettes 490bhp V8 propels it to a claimed 2.8 seconds 0-62mph time. We have our doubts that the C8 can muster such a 0-62 mph time. The Porsche 911 Turbo (991) can do 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds. Tesla Model S in Ludicrous Mode takes 2.4 seconds.

But here’s the deal, and the Corvette C8 is for once a proper real deal American supercar, prices start from $60,000 USD. That is a bargain when compared to prestige and premium rivals from Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, even Aston Martin.
