F1 2020 The Game is Here, But You Shouldn’t Buy It
Video

F1 2020 by Codemasters is due to launch on July 10, and yes the character models still resemble zombies. And yes the unnecessary career mode is still there, but you shouldn’t buy it. Here’s why. Save your money and wait for the PS5 version, which hopefully will be significantly better. If Codemasters are clever, and they employ many clever people, then they will have shifted their game development budget over to the PS5 release during the development of F1 2020.

That’s one reason why you should wait for the PS5 F1 2021 version. Nevertheless, F1 2020 has improved visuals, but this is always the case when a games console nears a planned product life-cycle termination date. As Developer knowledge increases, games look better. Graphically speaking, F1 2020 is a great graphical representation of Formula 1.

I personally do not consider it as the best race sim you can get, specifically for the console, be it Xbox or PS4. And I do not like the career mode. With the online racing element, I just want to get on and race. The career mode is completely meaningless.

Codemasters should make F1 2020 into a pure racing sim, that also recreates the experience of Formula One. The Career Mode should be sold as a separate game, and turned into pure sim management, and or a Fantasy F1 sim management game. A Fantasy F1 sim can easily be monetised through online competitions on Twitch or Youtube.

F1 2020 should be the best it can be, the career mode is just simply irritating. Codemasters, if you need product management advice just send us an email. Mind you the team over at Codemasters know what they are doing. Meanwhile, we here at the Daily Car Blog are deciding whether to clip our toe nails. Or not as the case may be.
