The fourth-generation Skoda vRS is back. And this time it’s personal… plug-in hybrid, 2.0 TSi petrol and 2.0 TDi. Three different vRS variants offering the exact same experience. Skoda perfection. With a power output of 180 kW (245 PS), the new Octavia vRS iV with plug-in hybrid drive comes as standard with a 6-speed DSG. The Octavia vRS equipped with a 2.0 TSI 200 PS petrol engine is mated to a manual 6-speed gearbox or 7-speed DSG. The 2.0 TDI delivers 147 kW (200 PS) and is coupled with a 7-speed DSG. All-wheel drive is an optional extra.
The VRS gets a specific to brand model sporty body kit and black graphical detailing to the grille and diffuser. The wing mirror housings and the window frames also come in gloss black, as do the estate’s roof rails. At the rear of the hatch, the aero-flaps, diffuser and vRS rear spoiler are gloss black too.
Skoda vRS models feature black 18-inch alloy wheels as standard; the brake calipers are finished in a signature red finish. 19-inch alloys are available as an option. Standard equipment includes the full LED Matrix headlights, which gives you more light at night with no nasty dazzle for other road users.
The digital instrument binnacle, which borrows Audi’s virtual cockpit tech, is standard. Driver assistance technologies such as Collision-Avoidance Assist, Turn Assist, and Exit Warning as well as Local Traffic Warning are also standard.
Dynamic Chassis Control is available as an option. This computer-controlled suspension constantly adjusts the damping to deliver a number of suspension settings which ranges from everyday Comfort mode to Sport mode.
Selecting the Sport mode, for example, will also alter the characteristics of the steering, making it feel slightly heavier to give the impression of enhanced steering feedback. These days the marketing people call it progressive steering.
The interior fitment will be, generally speaking, Skoda… or in more accurate terms, perfection. Pricing has yet to be revealed, but we suggest to you dear 1 daily reader, just go ahead and place an order because the standard Skoda Octavia is simply perfect. So it stands to reason the vRS variant will be supreme perfection.
