This Toyota GR Supra Jarama Racetrack Edition… Damn Yes!
Auto News

Jarama is a river in central Spain that flows north to south and passes east of Madrid. It was also the scene of fierce fighting between Nationalist and Republican forces during the 1937 Spanish Civil War. A Civil War is an oxymoron for there is nothing civil about war. You don’t expect people to say “oh, dear chap, I am just going to stamp on your feet before politely bayonetting you to death”. It’s a civil war, war is brutal, it is savage. And in this context, Toyota has developed a new form of civil warfare, the GR Supra Jarama Racetrack Edition.

The GR Supra Jarama Racetrack Edition isn’t the kind of thing you talk about down the pub, when they eventually re-open for a new season of superspreading. Uttering the very name will take up an entire hour’s worth of conversation alone. But this limited to 90 examples Toyota Supra is meant to do its talking on the track or on the road, whichever comes first. It’s powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo petrol engine which generates 335bhp and 500 Nm of torque.

The 8-speed transmission sends the drive to the rear wheels and will allow you to nail the all-important 0-62mph time in a qualified 4.3 seconds and then go on to reach a limited top speed of 155mph. The rather long named sportscar rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and the exterior is finished in Horizon Blue, many more paint finishes are available. The interior is a copy-paste of the BMW Z4 interior.

Indeed the Supra cheekily borrows a lot of technology from BMW because Toyota couldn’t be bothered to make the chassis, gearbox engine and interior by themselves. They did make the badge and body. Joint ventures and badge engineering is nothing new in the automotive industry. We should all celebrate joint ventures. And you know what? the Supra has actually outsold the Z4… how outrageous!

Details regarding the price and availability will be made… I don’t know when.
