Kia To Limit Sales of The EV6 To 1,500 For America
Auto News

If you live in America and really want the Kia EV6 pure electric crossover then you will have to wait until 2022. And you will have to place a reserve order because availability will be limited, 1,500 units limited. We don’t have the exact time frame or know when entry-level model sales begin. But we do know the US-spec First Edition will not differ from the global version (as if America is somehow not part of this world). So why has Kia decided to announce this now, today, while offering very few details? At this very moment, Kia America is recalling over 400k cars due to a faulty brake system that could lead to a fire. We think this is a distraction. Being journalists our first priority is to distract you to get on the good side of Kia. That’s how journalism works folks. Anyway.

The Kia EV6 First Edition will be fully loaded, it is the top dog trim level for the curious early adopter. Those 1,500 early-adopting Americans will get a premium interior that is more smartphone than the average typical clunky to operate Kia infotainment system. It’s complemented with a heads-up display, an explosive Meridian audio system, and augmented reality.

Powering the Kia EV6 First Edition will be a 77kWh battery and two electric motors driving the rear and front 20-inch alloy wheels. Total system power is 313bhp and the estimated range is 300 miles. Ultra-fast charging will add 70 miles of range in around 5 minutes.

The Kia EV6 will be fully loaded with the latest in active and passive safety technology. It even has parking collision avoidance and remote parking functionality. Advanced reservations open on June 3rd.

No word on the price, at a guess we reckon the EV6 First Edition will cost around $50,000.
