Actually, the internet did not go wild, it went into a, kind-of, comatose speculation. And the idle speculation did not involve all the internet, just a hand full of hacks with a bit too much spare time on their hands. At least the designers over at Chevrolet put their time to good use. Specifically, Chevrolet designer Tristian Murphy, who revealed just how good a concept artist he is with sketches of an unidentified vehicular interior.
Many have speculated that Murphy’s sketches show the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro. Or is it? The low roofline and Tesla-inspired steering yoke indicate a two-door sports coupe. However, the current-gen Camaro isn’t faring so well. Sales are plummeting, in Q2 2021 US sales amounted to just 2,792.
It is easy to blame the computer chip shortage caused by the pandemic, however, the real culprits are the Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang. Both cars are like MMA fighters while the Camaro has dwindled to hopping around on one foot.
Nevertheless, concepts are designed to cause a bit of good publicity. However, for the Camaro, it might have the opposite effect. Potential buyers may now wait for the new generation Camaro, which could further exacerbate the current situation for Chevrolet.
