It’s inspector Mat Watson this week for Carwow’s all singing all dancing YouTube superstar presenter. The Mat Watson. THE Mat Watson, Inspector Mat Watson, car reviewer part-time comedian chap. This week Mat, or “do you know who I am?” as he likes to be known, is given special access to the 2022 spec Mercedes AMG F1 W13.

This isn’t a campaign spec car, it is the Barcelona spec test car. It doesn’t feature the minimal sidepod design of the race-spec car proper. However, Watson i.e. “do you know who I am?” has a good proper look around at the W13.

And it turns out Watson i.e. “do you know who I am?”  is fairly knowledgeable. This particular W13 is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo 1,000bhp V6 hybrid engine that propels the W13 from 0-60mph in just 2.5 seconds.

2022 F1 campaign cars are now 43kg heavier than 2021 spec cars mainly due to the introduction of larger 18-inch tyres.
