A Ferrari SUV is everything that Ferrari isn’t. However, in pursuit of generating more sales, and more revenue streams, Ferrari has to face the reality that high-performance luxury SUVs do have a market. That market was first established by Porsche. A few decades later Bentley, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini and Aston Martin added an SUV to their model lineup. It seems Ferrari waited to see if the demand for an ultra-luxury high-performance suv was just a short-term phase. It wasn’t, so Maranello set about creating one.
The Ferrari Purosangue will be the company’s first SUV and here it is. Although it seems someone at the photo studio forgot to turn on all the lights. What we can see is the sculpted front section, slim headlights and massive air vents directly below on either corner.
We don’t know too much about the powertrain, perhaps Ferrari will use a V6 Hybrid based on their F1 engine. We can confirm the SUV will have a front-mounted plug-in hybrid power unit. This makes sense because there aren’t too many mid-engined SUVs out there.
The Ferrari Purosangue (thoroughbred) is scheduled to launch in 2023.
