The latest Transformers movie will soon be upon us. Transformers 7: Rise of The Beasts will hit the cinemas on June 9, 2023 on the back of a $200M budget. Carrying the high expectations of studio executives is an unlikely star, a 1990s Porsche 911 which looks absolutely stunning in the opening trailer.  The Porsche 911 (AKA 964) was built between 1989 and 1993 and sold over 62,000 units during its production run.

Of course, the 964 was rear-wheel drive, but it was still powered by an air/oil-cooled, horizontally opposed, dry-sump lubricated, rear-mounted 3.6-litre, six-cylinder boxer engine. Performance was relatively tame by modern standards, the 964 churned out 246bhp and 310Nm of torque which equated to a 0-60mph time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 163mph.

But get this, the 964 weighed just 1,120kg which would make it ultra-light in comparison to the 992. And Porsche made a lightweight version of the 964 which weighed under 1,000kg. Of course, we can go into detail about the handling and chassis setup and if we do we really are geeking out. The 964 and the current generation 992 are my favorites of the 911 family tree.

If the latest Transformers movie has primed your interest in a 964 expect to pay a premium. If you want to buy a Porsche 911 (964), as I suddenly have the urge to, a good example will set you back at least $225,000.
