Chevrolet Equinox EV Springs Into View Ahead of China Launch
Auto News

Images of the upcoming China made Chevrolet Equinox EV have been unveiled online. The images were revealed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) ahead of the official launch of the all-electric crossover in China. This unexpected preview provides some fresh insights into the battery-powered vehicle slated to arrive in the United States later this autumn, manufactured in Mexico.

The images showcase an RS-badged model, bearing a striking resemblance to its American counterpart. Notable features include a sleek front grille with integrated main beam lights, a rear diffuser, and an array of video cameras, presumably designed to facilitate a 360-degree view accessible through the infotainment system.

Moreover, the Equinox EV boasts embedded blind spot visual alerts within its side mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, a two-piece sunroof, and a choice of two roof colors: one matching the body or an elegant black.

In the United States, the Chevrolet Equinox will be available in a total of five trim levels to choose from. The initial trim, 2RS, is scheduled to hit dealerships this autumn. It boasts a GM-estimated range of up to 300 miles for the front-wheel drive version, comes equipped with 20-inch wheels, and features a heated flat-bottom steering wheel.

The other four versions (1LT, 2LT, 3LT, and 3RS) are slated for release in the following spring. The base 1LT with front-wheel drive is expected to offer a minimum GM-estimated range of 250 miles. While pricing details have yet to be disclosed, we anticipate GM will provide more information as the model’s official launch date approaches in the coming weeks.

The production of this model differs by region. In China, SAIC-GM is responsible for its manufacturing, while the units destined for the United States are being assembled at the Ramos Arizpe factory in Mexico, alongside the Honda Prologue. The production commenced in June, as mentioned in a post on X.

In terms of pricing, the Chevrolet Equinox EV is anticipated to be priced at approximately $30,000.
