Our exploration of the Chinese automotive landscape led us to the intriguing Dongfeng eπ 007. Priced affordably, starting at just $22,000, this seemingly ordinary car carries a touch of flair with its distinctive scissor doors—an appealing feature that may not be essential but certainly adds a cool factor and serves as a notable selling point. The eπ 007 is offered in both pure electric (EV) and extended-range (EREV) versions, with an anticipated launch in the first quarter of this year.

The Dongfeng eπ 007 boasts a sleek fastback design complemented by frameless doors, concealed handles, and an electric rear wing that dynamically adjusts based on the vehicle’s speed, achieving an impressive drag coefficient of 0.209Cd. The electric scissor door is offered as an optional feature.

The Dongfeng eπ 007 offers versatility with options for rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, available in both EV and EREV versions equipped with lithium iron phosphate battery packs. With fast charging capabilities, the battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% in just 26 minutes. The EV range variants are offered 530 km, 620 km and 540 km with power outputs starting at 160 kW, 200 kW, and 400 kw respectively.

The EREV variant combines a 1.5L engine with an electric motor. While the maximum power of the engine remains undisclosed, the electric motor delivers a robust 160 kW of power and a peak torque of 310 Nm. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in a swift 7.2 seconds, it is equipped with a 28.39 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC pure electric cruising range of 200 km. The comprehensive range extends up to an impressive 1,200 km.
