Porsche is broadening the model lineup of its all-electric sports sedan to encompass the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package. The Weissach Package derivative is designed for track performance and sacrifices the rear seats in favour of achieving an even better power-to-weight ratio.

Both models can deliver more than 1,100 PS at peak power. Alongside various lightweight construction and aerodynamics measures, these all-electric GT sports cars incorporate a more powerful and efficient pulse inverter that utilizes silicon carbide as the semiconductor material on the rear axle.

Both models feature a power boost mode activated upon pressing a “push-to-pass” button which deploys an extra 120 kW of additional power for 10 seconds. The system is optimized for track driving and derives from Porsche’s experience in the Electric ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The Taycan Turbo GT and Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package are equipped with a more powerful pulse inverter, delivering 777bhp. With Launch Control, this increases to up to 1,190bhp of overboost power, or up to 1,092bhp for two seconds, based on the peak power measurement method.

The difference in acceleration from a standstill to 200 km/h is even more pronounced: 6.6 or 6.4 seconds for the Taycan Turbo GT without/with the Weissach package, respectively, representing up to a 1.3-second improvement over the Taycan Turbo S.
