Industry News

In early 2023, Jozef Kaban was dismissed by Volkswagen and succeeded by Bentley designer Andreas Mindt after failing to meet the expectations of VW’s CEO. Today he has been poached by MG Motors, MG who confirmed the appointment of Kaban (51) as Vice President at the company’s Global Design Centre.

In this role, Kaban will spearhead the development of MG’s global design language. His arrival coincides with MG’s 100th anniversary celebration and the impending launch of the high-performance Cyberster EV roadster later in 2024.

Adding to the excitement, MG will unveil its latest concept car, the EXE181, at the Beijing Motor Show later this week. The EXE181 draws inspiration from the iconic EX181, which set a land-speed record in 1957.

A graduate of the prestigious Royal Academy of Art in London, Kaban is a globally-renowned designer with an illustrious career.

Kaban has led design teams at renowned automotive brands such as BMW, Skoda, and Rolls-Royce. Notable achievements include his work on the Bugatti Veyron supercar, and his tenure as chief exterior designer at Audi, where he contributed to the design of the Audi A5 coupe.
