Volvo Cars achieved a 27 percent surge in sales during April, culminating in a global delivery of 65,838 vehicles, according to the company’s latest disclosure. This upswing owes much to the burgeoning appetite for pure electric and plug-in hybrid automobiles.

Under the majority ownership of China’s Geely, Volvo reported a 94 percent spike in sales of full-electric cars, accounting for an impressive 26 percent share of the total global sales volume for the month.

Europe, Volvo’s principal market, witnessed a substantial 65 percent surge in sales compared to the corresponding period last year, with a noteworthy 34,238 cars finding buyers.

Of particular significance was the traction gained by the EX30 fully-electric compact SUV, driving significant sales growth in this key region.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic in the United States, Volvo recorded a 10 percent overall increase in sales, propelled significantly by an 89 percent surge in plug-in hybrid vehicle sales.

However, the Chinese market presented a marginal setback, with Volvo encountering a slight 3 percent decline in sales compared to the same period last year.
