The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating Fisker Inc., the bankrupt electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer. According to a filing made on Friday, the regulator has issued multiple subpoenas to the company.
Fisker filed for bankruptcy protection in June after struggling to scale up production of its Ocean SUVs. Since then, the company has been winding down its operations, selling off its vehicle fleet, and settling with creditors.
The SEC has raised objections to Fisker’s proposed liquidation plan, citing concerns about the preservation of corporate records. The regulator has requested information on where these records will be stored post-settlement but has yet to receive a response.
Fisker did not immediately respond to media request for comment.
The SEC’s investigation into Fisker is ongoing, and further subpoenas may be issued. The specific details of the probe remain undisclosed.
