Spanish GP: Oscar “Terminator” Piastri Storms To Pole Position
Formula One

Oscar Piastri secured his fourth pole position of the 2025 season at the Spanish Grand Prix, edging out McLaren teammate Lando Norris in the final seconds of a tightly contested Qualifying session.

Piastri had set the benchmark through Q1 and Q2, but Norris temporarily claimed provisional pole during the initial Q3 runs. However, the Australian responded with a superb final lap of 1:11.546, beating Norris by 0.209s and reaffirming his lead in the championship standings.

Max Verstappen delivered another consistent performance for Red Bull to qualify third. George Russell matched Verstappen’s lap time to the thousandth but was classified fourth after crossing the line later.

Lewis Hamilton led the charge for Ferrari in fifth, ahead of Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who lined up sixth and seventh respectively. Pierre Gasly (Alpine) claimed eighth, with impressive rookie Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls) in ninth and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) rounding out the top ten on home soil.

Just missing out on Q3 was Alex Albon (Williams), falling short by a mere 0.030s. He was followed by Gabriel Bortoleto (Kick Sauber) in P12 and Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls) in P13. Lance Stroll and Ollie Bearman were the final drivers eliminated in Q2.

The grid is set for what promises to be a closely fought race in Barcelona.
