In this video, The Car Edition tackles a 2013 Porsche Panamera V6 that initially showed signs of a simple coolant leak—but a deeper inspection revealed a far more serious issue hidden within the engine’s V. Known for concealing major problems, this area had multiple failing components.
The teardown uncovered widespread gasket deterioration, with many having degraded into soft, vinyl-like remnants unable to hold pressure. The team replaced a long list of parts, including the thermostat, oil filter assembly, water pump, cooler and its gasket, throttle body gaskets, and more.
This type of failure is common in 3.0L diesel engines, where excessive heat build-up and plastic components accelerate wear and lead to significant, often unexpected, repairs.
